Aillis (アイリス株式会社) makes nodoca, an AI-equipped pharyngeal camera system. It analyzes throat images with temperature and symptom data to detect influenza-specific findings. It was Japan's first AI-based new medical device of its kind, launched in December 2022 and covered by national insurance since then. The company sells the device to clinics and hospitals. Its AI was trained on a database of over 500,000 pharyngeal images. It is a Series D-stage startup. In April 2025 it announced a capital and business alliance with Towns and a roughly ¥2.05 billion third-party share allotment. Tracxn lists about $36.3M in total funding.
