MedRhythms develops a prescription 'music as medicine' platform that uses shoe sensors, software and licensed music to deliver rhythmic auditory stimulation. Its first device, InTandem, is for adults with chronic stroke walking deficits and is meant for independent home use. The FDA listed it as a Class II device in 2023, and the company has a Class II listing for Movive, aimed at Parkinson's disease, in 2025. Founded by neurologic music therapist Brian Harris and Owen McCarthy, the company is venture-backed, with a $25M Series B in 2021 and reported total funding of roughly $42M by 2023 (third-party trackers estimate more). It had about 40 employees in 2025, and a 2025 deal covers national distribution of InTandem and Movive.
