Udio, legally Uncharted Labs, Inc., runs a cloud-based text-to-music platform that is sold direct to consumers on a freemium subscription model. It launched in 2024 with a $10M seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz. Backers included will.i.am, Common and Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger. Major-label lawsuits were followed by 2025 settlements with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, which are building licensed AI platforms for 2026. Public data suggests it is a small team of about 29 employees (Aug 2026).
