AMD to buy Fei-Fei Li's World Labs for $8.2B to own a spatial-AI model stack

AMD agreed on September 28 to acquire World Labs, the spatial-intelligence lab founded by Fei-Fei Li, for $8.2B — seven months after World Labs raised $1B from a group that included AMD. The deal gives the chipmaker a frontier world-model team to pair with its Instinct accelerators as it chases Nvidia in physical AI and robotics. Builders working on simulation, robotics and 3D should expect World Labs' models to show up as part of AMD's software platform.
