SAP to acquire Ghent-based TechWolf to make its skills graph the core of SuccessFactors
TechWolf builds what it calls a context graph for work: an AI model of the tasks a company performs, the skills its employees have and the external labor market, used for skills-based hiring and workforce planning. SAP participated in TechWolf's $42.75M round in 2024 and already sold the product alongside SuccessFactors; after closing, the technology becomes the intelligent core of that suite and feeds SAP's Joule agents. TechWolf is based in Ghent with offices in London, New York and San Francisco. The price was not disclosed and closing is expected in the fourth quarter pending regulatory approval and works-council consultation. The acquisition follows SAP's push to turn Joule into an agentic work layer and lands as Workday, which had used TechWolf to feed its own Skills Cloud, faces losing a supplier to a rival. It is the second HR-data AI acquisition by a large enterprise vendor in two weeks. For founders, it is another example of a strategic investor converting a minority stake into a full buyout once the product is wired into its distribution.
