TypeSafe AI raises $870M led by Andreessen Horowitz at a $7.5B valuation for its Jev model

Bloomberg reports that Andreessen Horowitz wrote the largest check, with Sequoia Capital and angel investors also joining. The San Francisco company was founded in 2024 by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida with CTO Erik Gafni and COO Sasha Sheng. It came out of stealth on September 15 with a $40M seed led by DCVC, which Forbes put at roughly $200M. Jev returns structured outputs such as a category, score or probability plus a confidence level, rather than prose. The company says it has more than one million users and is used by about a third of the Fortune 500, but it has not named customers. It says responses come in under 100 milliseconds. The Information had earlier reported talks at $10B or more. For builders, the round shows investors want small, fast decision models built into back-office software. These are a cheaper layer than chat models for high-volume work like ticket routing or invoice checks. The usage claims have not been audited, so the price rests mostly on the team's pedigree and launch momentum.
