Nvidia-backed Reflection AI is about to release its first open-weight model as a US answer to DeepSeek and Qwen

Axios reports that Reflection AI, the Misha Laskin-led lab that raised $2B at an $8B valuation last year, will release its first open-weight model soon, with Laskin saying frontier models take time to build like rocket ships. The model is expected to trail the best closed US systems but compete with the top Chinese open-weight releases, and Reflection is pairing it with an 'AI factory' offering, already being tested with Korea's Shinsegae Group, that lets enterprises fine-tune on proprietary data using capacity secured from Nebius and SpaceX.
