Cal AI is a photo-based calorie and nutrition tracker. Users snap a picture of their food, and AI vision models (reportedly from OpenAI and Anthropic) estimate calories, protein, fat and carbs. It is sold to consumers as a freemium subscription app. It was founded in 2024 by teenagers Zach Yadegari and Henry Langmack, and it was bootstrapped with no outside funding. It reportedly passed 15M downloads and $30M+ in annual revenue within about two years. MyFitnessPal acquired it (deal closed December 2025, announced March 2, 2026) on undisclosed terms, and it continues to run as a standalone app.
