Excess Materials Exchange (EME) runs a digital matching platform, described as a 'dating site for waste', where companies list excess materials and EME matches them to the highest-value reuse option. Its tools include Resources Passports, tracking and tracing, and valuation modules, and it uses AI, IoT and blockchain to improve material flows and cut carbon emissions. Customers are industrial and corporate sellers and buyers of secondary materials, and it earns revenue through its SaaS and facilitated marketplace model. It was founded in 2017 and launched the platform in 2020. It raised a $5M Series A in December 2024 led by Wa'ed Ventures (Saudi Aramco's VC arm), to localise in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
