Owkin is a French-American techbio company founded in Paris in 2016 by Thomas Clozel and Gilles Wainrib. Its main product is K Pro (launched 2025), an AI research agent that combines biological language models, multiomics data and multimodal patient data. It earns revenue through licenses, research collaborations and data services with pharma partners such as AstraZeneca (a 2026 K Pro license and agent deal), Amgen and Sanofi. It became a unicorn in 2021 when Sanofi invested $180M, valuing it at about $1B. Total funding is reported at roughly $300–415M depending on the source. Its diagnostics unit, Owkin Dx, was spun out as Waiv in 2026 with a $33M financing.
