Silana is a deep-tech robotics startup that has developed what it calls the world's first autonomous sewing system. The system automates garment production from fabric roll to finished garment, using AI-based machine vision to track fabric and check quality. It targets fashion brands and manufacturers facing labor shortages and supply-chain fragility, and it aims to enable nearshoring in high-wage countries. The company was founded in 2022 and raised a seed round of about €1.5M (about $1.6M) in May 2024, backed by Material V and others. It also receives public funding from aws, FFG and the Vienna Business Agency.
