Brellium raises $23M for AI that audits clinical documentation and billing
New York-based Brellium was founded in 2021 by Alex Tu, Henry Kasa, Max Katzman and Zach Rosen. Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital led the round, with Digital Health Venture Partners also participating. Cumulative funding is now $39.7M. Valuation and revenue were not disclosed. The software reads clinical notes and coding to catch compliance gaps, missing details and billing errors before claims go out or auditors find them. Early customers sit in mental health and hospice, and the company plans to move into primary care and other specialties. Manual chart review is slow and expensive, which is the cost the product targets. For AI builders, the round fits a pattern of money going to narrow workflows where errors carry a direct dollar cost. Buyers in regulated healthcare will judge accuracy, false-positive rates and fit with existing record systems, so measured savings per audited chart is the metric that decides renewals and the next raise.
