Cohere signs letter of intent to buy vulnerability-hunting startup AISLE, price undisclosed
AISLE has roughly 50 full-time employees, and a company spokesperson said all of them would join Cohere. Vlcek's title would be SVP of Cohere Cyber, according to AISLE's own post. Cohere did not disclose the deal's structure or expected closing date. Cohere has also promised a substantial long-term investment in Prague to expand AISLE. The results AISLE cites include 18 of the 24 vulnerabilities fixed in curl 8.23.0 and 12 OpenSSL flaws that were later fixed. Cohere presents these figures as AISLE's own results. On the product side, the combined offering targets private cloud, on-premises and air-gapped deployments. These are planned capabilities, not a security product Cohere says is available now. AISLE's founders have backgrounds at Avast, Google DeepMind and Anthropic. For AI founders, the deal shows a model lab buying specialist security talent instead of building it. Selling to enterprise and public sector buyers increasingly means showing that AI systems can find and fix flaws in software, not just generate code. Small teams with a verifiable track record, such as accepted CVEs, may be attractive acquisition targets. Buyers should note that the deal is still only a letter of intent and could change before signing.
