GTCR-led group to take insurance software firm CCC private in $6.1B deal
GTCR leads a consortium that includes Elliott Investment Management and will pay $7.75 per share in cash for CCC Intelligent Solutions, valuing the company at about $6.1B. The premium is measured against CCC's close before Reuters first reported a possible sale on July 9. Closing is expected in the first quarter of 2027. CCC sells cloud software and AI tools for auto insurance claims, repair and total-loss workflows. A GTCR principal described the thesis as a business made better by AI rather than worse, which matches a broader pattern of buyers paying up for data-rich vertical software that AI is expected to strengthen. It follows Proofpoint's $6.3B agreement for Varonis this week. For founders, large take-privates of workflow software with proprietary claims data show where private equity sees AI durability: systems of record with embedded data and entrenched customers. That is a useful benchmark when pitching vertical AI against incumbents.
