Tamr lands $21M growth round led by Volition Capital for agentic data mastering
Volition Capital of Boston led the growth equity round, with existing investors participating, though the company did not name them. CEO Anthony Deighton gave the news to Axios Pro first. Proceeds fund product work, agentic data curation and context delivery, and the AI and operating infrastructure behind the platform. Recent additions include a bring-your-own-agent architecture and an enterprise knowledge graph. Tamr, founded in 2013 out of MIT's computer science lab with Turing Award winner Michael Stonebraker among its co-founders, matches and merges duplicate records across CRM, ERP, procurement systems, warehouses and lakes. Its pitch has shifted from classic master data management to supplying clean entity data that AI agents can trust. For builders shipping agents into enterprises, record quality is a recurring failure point. Investors are funding the unglamorous data layer that determines whether agents act on the right customer, supplier or product, and older data vendors are repositioning toward that demand.
