Ubitium raises $14M seed extension for a single chip that senses, infers and controls
The Düsseldorf semiconductor startup was founded in 2024 and is building a reconfigurable processor for robots, drones, vehicles and industrial machines. Ibex Investors led the round. OpenOcean joined, along with existing investors KBC Focus Fund, Runa Capital and Inflection, and Quantum Systems co-founder Florian Seibel. Valuation and revenue were not disclosed. Its first chip, UB108, has 256 processing elements and was made on Samsung's 8nm process. The company says it has run signal processing, AI inference and real-time control on the same architecture. UB410 will have 4,096 processing elements, and samples are planned for 2027, so it remains in development. For AI builders, the round backs hardware aimed at edge inference where latency, sensor fusion and power matter more than training throughput. Teams shipping models onto robots and drones should watch for alternatives to GPUs and microcontroller pairings, though a seed-stage chip with early silicon still carries a long path to volume production.
