SoftBank and Nvidia wire the final $20B of OpenAI's $122B round at an $852B valuation

SoftBank paid the last $10 billion of its $30 billion commitment to OpenAI on October 1, completing three equal tranches since April and taking its cumulative investment to $64.6 billion for a roughly 13% stake, while Nvidia closed the final $10 billion of its matching $30 billion pledge, The Information reported. The payments close out the $122 billion round that valued OpenAI at $852 billion. SoftBank funded the tranche with an $11.1 billion foreign-currency bond sale and a $40 billion bridge loan. With this round done and valuation talk already at $1.4 trillion, OpenAI's next raise will test how much more balance-sheet capacity its two largest backers have.
