Velaura AI raises $110M Series A at $1B+
The round closed August 18 and drew a wide syndicate. New investors Capricorn Investment Group and Prosperity7 Ventures joined existing backers Mayfield, Maverick Silicon, MARA, Premji Invest, Samsung Catalyst Fund and StepStone Group. Proceeds go toward commercializing the Titan Core silicon platform and expanding engineering and customer teams. The company was previously Auradine, which built bitcoin mining processors. It shifted focus to Titan Core in March. Titan Core is a set of processor building blocks and services meant to help customers design energy-efficient AI chips. Velaura claims two to four times better performance per watt for accelerator workloads, and says its underlying technology has shipped in more than 30 million ASICs. Targets include data center XPUs and physical AI such as robotics and drones. Whether edge customers are under contract today is not clear from public reporting. For AI builders, power is becoming the binding constraint on compute, and investors are paying unicorn prices for efficiency claims. The company sells IP and design services rather than finished accelerators, so the benefit would reach founders mainly through the chips that customers build on it. The performance-per-watt figures are company claims, so independent benchmarks should be the test before any infrastructure planning relies on them.
