Anthropic buys Bun, the JavaScript runtime Claude Code runs on

Anthropic announced on December 2, 2025 that it had acquired Oven, the company behind the Bun JavaScript runtime and toolkit, which ships inside Claude Code. Bun stays open source; terms were not disclosed. It was Anthropic's first acquisition.
