Amazon reportedly in talks to acquire chip-portable AI software startup Decart for about $7B
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that the talks could wrap up within days unless they break down or a rival bidder appears, and Bloomberg carried the report. The price would be nearly double the roughly $4 billion valuation Decart reached in May, when it raised $300 million in a round led by Radical Ventures that included Nvidia. Decart has raised more than $400 million in total from backers including Sequoia Capital and Benchmark. Its software lets developers run models on different processors, and AWS gave it early access to Trainium3 chips in 2025. Decart was founded in 2023 by brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf with Moshe Shalev, and it also builds real-time world models. Bloomberg reported last month that Anthropic dropped a roughly $6 billion deal after due diligence. For builders, a deal would put tooling for running models on any chip inside AWS. It would also show that hyperscalers will pay heavily for software that reduces dependence on a single accelerator vendor.
