MongoDB buys Voyage AI (~$220M) to build embeddings and reranking into the database
MongoDB acquired Voyage AI, the embedding- and reranking-model company founded by Stanford's Tengyu Ma, on February 24, 2025 for about $220M, so that retrieval quality for RAG could live inside MongoDB Atlas rather than in a separate vendor.
