Adobe acquires Indian market-intelligence startup Rilo
The deal is structured as a licensing and team acquisition. Adobe takes rights to parts of Rilo's intellectual property and onboards its six employees, while the product itself is being shut down and will no longer serve existing customers. Terms were not disclosed, but a source told TechCrunch that investors will get an exit. Rilo was founded in September 2025 and raised $1 million from Peak XV, DeVC and Day Zero Ventures at a $10 million valuation. Its founders said more than 10,000 people had tried the tool. Rilo let go-to-market teams describe workflows in plain English and have agents run them, covering competitor intelligence, content repurposing and sales call analysis. It is Adobe's second acquisition out of India, after Rephrase.ai in 2023, and it comes a little over four months after Adobe completed its roughly $1.9 billion purchase of Semrush. Canva has also bought into marketing automation, while Google, Meta and Amazon keep building AI advertising tools. For founders, the outcome shows a common exit for a young agent startup: a small team and some IP absorbed by an incumbent, with the product retired. Workflow builders sit close to what Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work now offer, which puts pressure on standalone tools. Investors in seed-stage companies in this category should expect acqui-hire style exits more than product-led acquisitions.
