Former Plaud executive Peter Mo raises $26M for Ambi, an always-listening AI assistant
Mistlabs, the San Francisco company behind Ambi, said on Monday that the $26 million came in across several rounds. Luminous Ventures and contract manufacturer Huaqin Technology led. Luminous has previously backed Meituan and Unitree Robotics. Founder and CEO Peter Mo was previously an executive at Plaud, which makes AI voice recorders. Ambi is launching apps for iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch. They work as meeting note takers but can also capture context all day, and the agent is built to make suggestions during a meeting rather than after it. The company has more than 50 staff in San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Next up are a desktop app that remembers on-screen work and a dedicated device with a screen, camera and microphones. Ambient capture is off by default, but telling other people they are being recorded is left to the user. For builders of note takers and personal agents, the round shows hardware supply chain investors betting on always-on context. Consent rules and recording lawsuits remain the main product risk.
