Freshworks signs deal to buy Torii, a SaaS and AI spend management platform
Freshworks, a Nasdaq-listed company with about 4,500 employees, signed a definitive agreement to acquire Torii on October 12. Terms were not disclosed, and Calcalist describes the deal as relatively small. Torii was founded in 2017 by four co-founders including Uri Haramati and Tal Bereznitskey, and has raised $65M. Torii maps the software and cloud services employees use, manages licenses and flags unmanaged apps. A newer feature tracks AI consumption at token level, attributes it to teams, forecasts cost and sets spending limits. Freshworks plans to fold it into Freshservice, its IT service management product, to cover software and AI spend governance. For builders, the pattern is clear: AI cost attribution is becoming a feature that large IT platforms want to own. DoiT bought Attribute in August for a similar capability. Startups selling token-level spend controls face either acquisition interest or competition from bundled offerings in established service-management suites.
