Kapital to acquire AI coding agent startup Woz for $30M in cash and stock
Kapital, a Mexico-based B2B financial platform, will pay $30 million in cash and stock for Woz, a San Francisco company building coding agents. Woz CEO Ben Collins becomes Kapital's head of AI and CTO Brad Eckert becomes chief technology officer. Woz's full AI development team is expected to join, and Kapital plans to grow its San Francisco team over the next year. Woz's flagship WOZCODE uses patented token-reduction technology to augment coding models from Anthropic and OpenAI, and the company says customers have saved more than $2.5 million. Kapital already runs OctavIA, an AI suite for live scoring, underwriting and risk. The agreement was announced October 19. For AI builders, the deal shows a lender buying a coding-agent team to build finance-specific models in-house rather than rent them. Buyers at this size tend to value the team and access to proprietary data more than current revenue.
