Kiteworks acquires Bonfy.AI to control sensitive data moving through AI agents
Kiteworks acquired Bonfy.AI in a deal Calcalist estimates at tens of millions of dollars. The companies did not disclose the price. Bonfy was founded in early 2024 by Gidi Cohen and Danny Kibel. It left stealth in June 2025 with a $9.5M seed round led by TLV Partners, with participation from Haim Saban's Saban Capital Group. Bonfy's software classifies data at the moment it is exchanged and applies policy before a transfer finishes, including when an AI assistant or autonomous agent is involved. Kiteworks is placing it inside its Data Control Plane. The aim is to close the gap between knowing where sensitive data is stored and controlling what happens when an employee, assistant or agent sends it elsewhere. For AI builders, data loss controls for agent traffic are being bought by established security vendors instead of being built by startups into standalone products. Teams selling agent governance should expect buyers to want runtime enforcement, not only inventories, and to look for it through acquisition.
