SafeWorld leaves stealth with a $12.2M seed from Shine Capital and a16z Speedrun to stress-test robots in simulation
Palo Alto-based SafeWorld, founded by Carnegie Mellon Safe AI Lab director Ding Zhao with Kyle Wong and Simo Rachidi, raised a $12.2M seed co-led by Shine Capital and a16z Speedrun. Box Group, the CMU endowment, Innovation Endeavors, SV Angel, Ovo Fund, Valkyrie, Zelda Ventures, Alpha Square Group, Founders Future, Brave Capital and angels from Nvidia, Google DeepMind, Waymo and Meta also joined. The company builds simulation software that stress-tests robot behaviour in dangerous scenarios so enterprises can validate systems before deploying them around people, with early pilots at automotive OEMs, warehouse-automation and medical-device makers. Safety validation is becoming a distinct software layer as humanoids and mobile manipulators move into shared spaces.
