Shanghai mass spectrometry firm Baiqu Biology raises $13.8M Series B to pair multi-omics with AI
CSC Financial Capital led the round on its own, and Qiming Venture Partners followed on. Baiqu was founded in 2013 in Shanghai's Jiading District and runs mass spectrometry testing for life sciences and medicine. It has served more than 3,000 institutions across 70,000 projects and processes over 600,000 samples a year. The money will fund R&D that combines multi-omics data with AI, plus new single-cell and spatial metabolomics and proteomics products and a mass spectrometry capacity center in Zhejiang. The company is also setting up an overseas headquarters in Singapore and labs in Europe and the US. Its in-house library of more than 20,000 metabolite standards is being used to train models for multimodal analysis. Founder Deng Junliang wants to move into early screening and diagnostics. For AI bio builders, the asset here is more than a decade of proprietary lab data. Established service labs with clean datasets are becoming real competitors to model-first omics startups.
