AMD's Lisa Su lands in Taiwan to lock down TSMC capacity and urges AI firms to stop bidding against each other
AMD CEO Lisa Su arrived in Taiwan on Monday for two days of meetings with TSMC and packaging and substrate suppliers including ASE, SPIL and Unimicron on second-half 2026 and 2027 delivery schedules, before heading to South Korea. Bloomberg reported she described chip demand as very high and urged AI companies to coordinate on capacity rather than outbid one another. AMD has about 14 GW of AI data-center commitments in its pipeline, including 6 GW each with OpenAI and Meta, and its 2nm Venice EPYC capacity is already fully booked for 2027. Supply, not design wins, is now the binding constraint for anyone counting on non-Nvidia accelerators next year.
