Hi from Belgium: stablecoin payments, built by a small team with AI

Hi Lounge, I'm Tim, CEO and co-founder of Venly in Belgium.

We turn stablecoins into payments. A customer pays in stablecoins, the business on the other end gets money it can actually spend. We're a small team and build most of it with AI on top of infrastructure we reuse, which still surprises people in a sector where everyone assumes you need a big compliance and engineering headcount before you can move a single euro. Our MiCA licence is in progress, so a fair bit of my week goes there too.

One thing I've learned talking to merchants this year, in case it saves someone a mistake: shops that convert stablecoins to euros the same day barely notice the accounting, because their books only ever see euros. The ones holding dollar stablecoins to pay suppliers later are the ones who get surprised at month end, because their accountant treats it as a currency position and nobody planned for that. If you're building anything that touches stablecoins for businesses, ask your users which of the two they are before you design the flow.

What I'm after here: founders running lean with AI in fintech or payments, and anyone selling to European merchants who wants to compare notes. Where are you building from?

The accountants who get surprised at month end could become your best sales channel. I'd pick a few Belgian firms that keep the books for online shops, give them a one-page guide on the two types you described (converting to euros the same day versus holding dollar stablecoins to pay suppliers later), and let them send you the clients who start asking about stablecoins.
