Google Opens Connected Apps Platform for Developers Building Into Gemini and Search

Google says the platform gives app makers one route into Gemini and Search. Existing third-party connections already cover more than 50 services, including Adobe, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable and Ticketmaster, and a Calm integration is due in the coming weeks. Until now, getting a service connected required close work with Google. The new Connected Console lets developers track traffic, latency and error rates, and it lets them control how their brand appears in the connection. For founders building AI products, this offers a path to reach Gemini users without a bespoke partnership. Teams that already run an MCP server can test whether their latency and error rates hold up under the new listing requirements. Developers should also plan the hosting setup early, since the platform expects a cloud-hosted server or an Android MCP build from the first day.
