Orbit: Stop doomscrolling. Earn every app unlock.
Orbit applies its blocks through Apple's Screen Time, so restrictions run at the system level. Users set apps, days and hours, or start from one of three templates. Leaving early takes a press-and-hold of 5 seconds to 3 minutes, and a finished hold earns a break of 3 to 15 minutes, after which the shield returns. The App Store listing also shows single-unlock purchases priced from $1.99 to $9.99. Friction-based blockers are a crowded category. Doomscroll requires a physical or mindfulness task before selected apps open. DoomFree blocks addictive apps until users earn screen time through real-world habits. Exercise-based unlockers such as FightMode and Pushscroll tie access to pushups, squats or similar effort. For a founder building an AI product, the monetization sits in the unlock step, not the blocker itself. Orbit also keeps schedules on the phone, and an account is optional, which lowers the data burden for a habit app. Its own FAQ says it can prevent an app from opening but cannot see inside one, a limit any AI feature that reads app content would have to plan around.
