Nvidia's Huang says he would stop selling chips to customers building unsafe AI, after talking first
In a Bloomberg interview in London with Emily Chang, Jensen Huang called the question hypothetical but answered yes: Nvidia would halt supply to a customer developing dangerous AI software. He added that the company would first have a conversation, since Nvidia does not run other firms and its technology is general-purpose, which limits the judgment it applies to buyers' use. Huang also said current levels of concern about AI are not warranted. The Standard's account of the interview says he called the fears self-imposed, said the industry has explained the benefits poorly, and argued AI can help control the technology. Business Standard reported the $250M UK pledge alongside the interview. The remarks come as more than 400 scientists urge air-gapping of hacking-capable models. For builders, they show chip supply is being discussed as a safety lever, with no stated criteria or threshold. Teams training frontier-scale models should expect acceptable-use questions from suppliers and cloud providers to become more formal.
