Verizon Signs Over $2 Billion AI Infrastructure Deal With AWS
Verizon said on Monday that it raised its annual forecast for wireless subscriber additions, betting on demand for its simplified plans. The same day it signed an AI infrastructure agreement with Amazon Web Services worth more than $2 billion. Reuters reported both items on October 26. The deal follows a July agreement in which Verizon committed more than $1 billion to Google to connect data centers using dark fiber. That pattern shows carriers positioning fiber and network assets as a new revenue line tied to AI demand. The reporting available did not give further terms of the AWS arrangement. For founders, the deal shows cloud capacity and network connectivity for AI workloads are being contracted at multi-billion scale by companies outside the usual cloud market. Teams planning inference or training capacity should watch where telecom fiber and power commitments land, since those shape regional latency and costs.
