Quarterly plan with 3 outcomes
Cuts a long wish list down to three measurable outcomes, the bets under each, and what you will not do.
Use it when
Quarter planning, when everything feels important.
What you fill in
- goals Company goal for the year and where you are now
- ideas Every project and idea on the table
- capacity Team size and who works on what
The prompt
Help me plan next quarter. Year goal and current state: goals Everything on the table: ideas Capacity: capacity 1. Pick the 3 outcomes that move the year goal most. Each must be measurable (metric, baseline, target). 2. Under each outcome, choose at most 3 bets from the list (or propose a better one), with an owner and a rough size (S/M/L) that fits the capacity. 3. List everything you cut as "Not this quarter", with a one-line reason each. 4. Name the first thing to do on Monday for each outcome. Push back if the capacity cannot carry the plan; say what to drop. Output as a one-page plan with a table per outcome. Before you answer, check your draft against every instruction above and fix anything that misses.
Why it works
- Caps the number of outcomes and bets, which forces trade-offs.
- Makes the 'not doing' list explicit.
- Checks the plan against real capacity.
