Innoangel Fund
About Innoangel Fund
Tsinghua alumni Li Zhu and Lin Sen founded Innoangel Fund in April 2013 in Beijing. Li Zhu is the founding partner. He studied computer science at Tsinghua, began angel investing in 2000 and founded the video company UUSee. The firm has two sub-brands with separate investment teams. Zhou Quan is managing partner of Innoangel Keji Fund. Zhu Xiaocheng is managing partner of Innoangel Angel Fund. The firm says it manages several billion RMB and has invested in more than 500 projects. Before 2019 it invested broadly across consumer and internet themes. It says its share of technology projects rose from 50% in 2018 to 100% by 2023.
Li Zhu has said AI is a long-running focus, mainly foundation technology and the application layer, including model frameworks and humanoid robots. He has also said general-purpose language foundation models are better suited to US-dollar VCs than to Innoangel. The firm prefers areas where large companies have less data, such as 3D generation (VAST AI), and embodied AI, where talent is moving from big companies to startups. In embodied AI it points to Manifold AI (world models) and Lingyu Intelligence (simulation and imitation learning). It also cites AI chips, such as edge-computing chipmaker Yuanli Semiconductor. The Lounge deals desk lists four AI rounds for the firm: Manifold AI (March 2026), Yuanli Semiconductor (April 2026), Aether AI (June 2026) and Awomo (August 2026).
Innoangel focuses on angel, seed and pre-Series A rounds. Innoangel Keji Fund II held a first close of CNY 600M in early 2023 against a CNY 1B target. Li Zhu said it would hold fewer than 40 projects, with average investments of CNY 15M to 30M. In 2024 he said about 60% of the amount invested went to AI and other new-generation information technology. An earlier report describes two early-stage funds totaling CNY 500M, aimed at AI and biomedicine. One third-party data site estimates typical first checks of $200K to $2M. The firm has not published that range.
