Krishna Mehra
About Krishna Mehra
Krishna Mehra is based in San Francisco, California. He is AI Partner at Elevation Capital, an early-stage venture firm, and joined in December 2024. He studied computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (B.Tech, 2002 to 2006). Elevation's team page says he co-authored more than ten international papers and patents in software engineering and cloud computing.
He has founded two companies. In 2008 he co-founded Capillary Technologies, a SaaS company, and served as CTO until 2015. Elevation says Capillary grew to serve 300 million consumers and 300 brands across 25,000 locations. Elevation also says it raised $100M in venture funding under his tenure as CTO. His LinkedIn summary, as reproduced by a profile aggregator, says Capillary listed on the NSE in November 2025. In 2015 he founded Taro, a meal delivery marketplace, and was its co-founder and CEO until 2019. Elevation says it delivered over a million meals before EAT Club acquired it.
Before investing full time he worked in engineering. He was a research software engineer at Microsoft Research India from 2006 to 2008. He was Head of Engineering for data protection at Cohesity from 2019 to 2021, where Elevation says he architected exabyte-scale cloud systems. From 2021 to 2024 he was Head of Engineering for messaging ads at Meta. Elevation says that work drove more than $10B in revenue through AI-driven products and included early deployment of Meta's Llama models. He writes a blog called Day Zero and is a mentor at 500 Global and an advisor to Alchemist Accelerator, according to his Wellfound profile.
His aggregator profile and Elevation's announcement both say he has angel-invested since 2014. Elevation's announcement says he has backed over 45 companies as an angel, and that those companies have created more than $5 billion in enterprise value. Earlier press coverage of his appointment used the figure of over 40 companies. Those totals come from Elevation's own announcement and have not been checked independently.
Crunchbase lists 13 personal investments in 13 portfolio companies. It shows no lead investments, one exit and two companies founded. Crunchbase counts are lower than the company's own figures, so Crunchbase probably does not capture all of his angel deals. PitchBook lists him as an active angel and shows an investment in Pipeshift on 23 January 2025.
Press coverage names Innovaccer and MoEngage as angel investments. His LinkedIn summary, as reproduced by an aggregator, also names AppZen. PitchBook says he served on Innovaccer's board.
Since December 2024 his AI investing has been done through Elevation Capital. Elevation's team page lists his sector expertise as Enterprise AI. Elevation described the hire as leading its SaaS and AI investments in the India-US corridor from Silicon Valley.
Elevation has published a podcast episode titled "Investing in Adopt AI", which Elevation describes as building the agent layer for every application. Crunchbase lists Elevation's investment in SynthioLabs on his profile, and a Seed round in Breakout as his latest personal investment. These deal dates are not shown publicly in the sources I could access.
He has spoken publicly about AI trends. In an Elevation podcast from February 2025 he discussed the shift from generative models toward reasoning and inference-time compute. He also discussed the commoditization of base models and rapid enterprise adoption. He co-authored Elevation's "State of AI in 2025" and "AI: Year in Review 2025" pieces.
His LinkedIn headline says he invests in AI and SaaS founders building in the India-US corridor. His aggregator summary says his angel investments concentrate in vertical SaaS, AI and developer tools. Elevation describes itself as a seed and early-stage firm. His LinkedIn says he focuses on early-stage companies with strong engineering depth.
At his appointment he said over 40% of Silicon Valley companies have Indian diaspora founders. He said the AI platform shift levels the field for them. Elevation says it wants to support Indian founders who target global markets from day one, as well as diaspora founders working across both countries.
His check size is not public, and neither are any ownership targets. Founders should not assume the terms of an individual angel check match those of Elevation fund investments.
