Kai: Autonomous assistant designed to handle meetings and email
Kai comes from the team behind Morgen, a daily planner that its site says 248,000+ professionals use. It is a separate product with its own pricing: $50 per user per month on a single plan, described as a founding-member rate during beta, with a free trial and no card required. Meetings are captured without a visible bot on Zoom, Google Meet and Teams. Action items are extracted with an assignee and due date, and the user accepts or dismisses each one before it enters the task list. A free Chrome extension runs Whisper locally in the browser, with no account and no audio upload, as an entry point to the paid product. Competitors each cover a slice. Lindy handles messaging and scheduling, Otter and Read AI focus on capture, and Granola keeps its output inside a notes app. Kai's own comparison pages concede it has fewer integrations than Lindy and that web meeting capture records only the microphone, so desktop is needed for both sides of a call. Those pages are self-published and rank Kai first. For AI founders, the pattern to watch is an established productivity team using its installed base to launch an agent product. Kai also exposes itself as a connector inside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, which treats the large model assistants as distribution channels rather than rivals. At $50 against $8 to $40 for narrower tools, the pricing bet is that consolidating four apps justifies a premium.
