OpenSEO: The open source Semrush alternative
This is a relaunch on Product Hunt, built around new AI Visibility features. It reached 347 upvotes and 37 comments. The builder is Ben Senescu, a former Klaviyo software engineer, and the company is Every App, Inc. The MCP server offers 57 tools, and ten packaged skills guide an agent through tasks such as competitor analysis and link prospecting. DataForSEO supplies most of the SEO data. Under the MIT license, the software is free if you self-host and bring your own DataForSEO key. It connects to agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw and Hermes. There is also a separate Google Search Console MCP, free to use because Search Console data costs nothing. Not every review is positive. One reviewer still prefers wiring up DataForSEO's own MCP, because the direct connection reaches AI mention data that OpenSEO's MCP does not. For AI founders, the takeaway is that SEO incumbents with $100-plus subscriptions are being pulled apart into thin, agent-facing layers over wholesale data APIs. The defensible asset is the data supplier, not the dashboard. Teams building agent tools in any vertical should expect open source wrappers to undercut them in the same way.
