Hi, I’m Alex, building an AI-native CRM after leaving HubSpot
I’m the founder of Xappex in Los Gatos, in the Bay Area. For years we’ve built Salesforce connectors for Excel and Google Sheets (XL-Connector, G-Connector), so I’ve spent a long time inside other people’s CRMs.
At the same time, I always struggled to have a good system of record for our own customers: their subscriptions, payments, support, and documentation that both customers and the team can use. HubSpot was the closest match for what we needed, so we signed up. But the pricing, and plenty of little things I didn’t like, kept me uncomfortable and always wanting to build something of my own. When Claude Code showed up, that finally became possible.
So this year I built it: CRM, marketing email, AI-first support, documentation and billing in one system. Our team of 12 had been paying HubSpot over $2,000 a month, and an AI support bot we piloted wanted $800 a month on top. Support moved onto the new system in August, marketing email soon after, and our trial nurture agents go live November 1, the day after our HubSpot contract ends.
A few things this crowd might find interesting: an in-app AI assistant that can do real work but needs human approval for anything risky, an MCP connector so you can run the CRM from Claude or ChatGPT, and bring-your-own keys for email, AI and enrichment with no markup.
Coming up the pipeline: the CRM will be able to build it's own modules, no more need for connectors and adapters to support that one-of-a-kind processs that you have. Just describe what you need in any language, Lovable style.
I’m opening it to a handful of small teams by invitation. I’d love to hear from founders who’ve wrestled with this: where does your customer data live today, and what would make you trust a newer system with it?
