WP Engine
WP Engine is a private company in Austin that sells managed WordPress hosting, eCommerce hosting, headless WordPress tools and enterprise web products on a subscription basis. It says its products power about 1.5M digital experiences worldwide. Jason Cohen founded it in 2010, and Heather Brunner has been CEO since October 2013. Silver Lake backs the company, which has raised about $267M–$414M depending on the source, and Latka estimates its ARR at about $400M in 2024. In 2024, Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com) accused WP Engine of trademark infringement, and it has acquired Big Bite (January 2026) and WPackagist (March 2026).
