About Barak Rabinowitz

Background

Barak Rabinowitz is Managing Partner of F2 Venture Capital, a Tel Aviv seed fund. He started his career in the Technology M&A Group at Morgan Stanley and served in an infantry paratroop brigade of the IDF. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS BA from Georgetown University.

He co-founded and led three startups in London and Tel Aviv as CEO. One was Mytopia, which 888 Holdings acquired. PitchBook lists the 2010 sale price as $18 million and also lists Amuso as a company he co-founded and ran.

He later joined Genesis Partners as a partner, focusing on early-stage deals and The Junction pre-seed program. In a published interview he said he persuaded Genesis Managing Partner Jonathan Saacks to spin out and found F2 with him. Until 2016 he was General Partner at Genesis. He also co-hosts the Founder Stories podcast.

Angel investing track record

In an Authority Magazine interview, Barak said he began angel investing his own money after selling his startups, and had backed twelve more companies. Crunchbase shows only one personal investment, so its count is incomplete.

PitchBook lists him as an investor in Crossrider, which later sold for $37 million. It also names R2Net, ubimo, Bizzabo and Zoog, the last with a date of 1 November 2022. PitchBook says he sat on the boards of Vayo, Darrow, SkyWatch, Zengaming and Convexum, and advised Portis. These are third-party records, not statements from him.

AI investments

Most of his current investing is through F2, which describes itself as investing the first check into Israeli startups in cloud infrastructure and applied AI. Recent F2-led rounds include a $7 million seed for Doti AI and a $9.2 million seed for 257. The firm's site does not say which partner led each deal.

In Calcalist's 2025 VC survey he described AI as a technology shift comparable to the PC, the internet and mobile. He said Israeli startups have historically become global category leaders two to three years into such waves.

Investment focus

F2 invests at pre-seed and seed and is usually the first institutional investor. It also runs The Junction, a pre-seed platform. Its focus is Israeli founders, and its stated areas have included fintech, AI, big data, cloud ops and cyber.

F2 says it manages $500 million. Its third seed fund, announced in 2022, was $150 million, following earlier funds of $60 million (2017) and $75 million (2019). Calcalist reported that a fourth seed fund of about $100 million is being raised.

F2 has not published a check size. Signal lists a range of $500K to $3.0M, and Ellty says up to $4M. Treat both as unconfirmed. Barak said in the interview that he looks for companies that can build and retain customers.
