About Brad Feld
Brad Feld founded Feld Technologies while studying at MIT, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in management science. AmeriData acquired the company, and he later served as AmeriData's chief technology officer.
He went on to found Intensity Ventures and co-found Mobius Venture Capital. In 2007 he co-founded Foundry Group in Boulder, Colorado, with Seth Levine, Ryan McIntyre and Jason Mendelson. He is also one of four co-founders of Techstars, which was incorporated in November 2006.
Feld writes the blog Feld Thoughts and has written books in the Startup Revolution series. With his wife, Amy Batchelor, he runs the Anchor Point Foundation.
By his own account, Feld sold his first company in 1993. Between 1994 and 1996 he made about 40 angel investments in tech companies, mostly internet software, with checks of roughly $25,000 to $50,000. Wikipedia says he began financing startups in the early 1990s, first as an angel and later as an institutional investor.
Crunchbase lists him as founder and managing director of FG Angels, a role dated from January 2007. Wikipedia names Harmonix, Zynga, MakerBot and Fitbit as early investments.
Markup AI is the AI investment most clearly tied to him in public records. NFX Signal and Crunchbase list a Series A of $28M in September 2025, with Feld among the investors. NFX Signal also tags his investing history with AI at seed, Series A and Series B. It does not name the companies behind those tags, so this page does not either.
Foundry describes itself as a firm focused on early-stage technology investment. It also takes part in select growth rounds and backs new venture fund managers. Third-party profiles list his areas as SaaS, AI, cloud infrastructure, e-commerce, consumer health, social networks and enterprise software, from seed through Series B.
Feld has written that Foundry's goal is significant ownership in its companies, often over 30%. He has not published a personal check size. NFX Signal estimates a $100K to $30M range for his Foundry investing, and that figure is not a statement from Feld. Foundry's early-stage funds are $225 million each, according to Feld's own post on the firm's funds.
