About Kyle Vogt
Kyle Vogt is an American technology entrepreneur based in San Francisco. He studied computer science and electrical engineering at MIT. According to Wikipedia, he left MIT in his junior year to join the team that built Justin.tv, which later became Twitch. Before that, he co-led an MIT team in the 2004 DARPA Grand Challenge. Crunchbase lists him as co-founder and general manager of Justin.tv from 2006 and co-founder of Socialcam in 2011. Amazon acquired Twitch in 2014 for $970M, according to Finextra-style coverage syndicated by Yahoo Finance.
Vogt founded Cruise in 2013. General Motors acquired the self-driving company in 2016. He accepted the Cruise CEO role again in February 2022, according to his own post on X. Crunchbase shows him leaving Cruise in November 2023. Press reports tie his resignation to an incident in which a Cruise vehicle hit a pedestrian, after which California suspended Cruise's driverless permits.
In 2024 he started The Bot Company, a robotics and AI startup building household chore robots. He co-founded it with Paril Jain, formerly an AI lead at Tesla, and Luke Holoubek, a former Cruise software engineer. Vogt announced that it had raised $150M from investors including Nat Friedman, Daniel Gross, Nabeel Hyatt, Patrick Collison, John Collison and Quiet Capital. He is the company's CEO. His X profile lists him as CEO of The Bot Company.
