Anthropic launches Cyber Mission, giving 11 security firms frontier Claude access to defend grids and water systems

The founding partners in the new Critical Infrastructure Defense Program are Accenture, Booz Allen, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Dragos, Hitachi, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks, PwC and Rockwell Automation. They get frontier Claude models, on-site Anthropic engineers and threat research to protect operational technology in power, water, factories and transport. Anthropic argues attackers already have capable models while defenders lag. The second piece, OSS Scanner, is opt-in for open-source maintainers. Enrolled projects are scanned periodically, and each report carries a proof of concept, an explanation and a suggested patch. Anthropic expects a true-positive rate above 90%, and in an early run across 48 projects, pen-testers cleared 85 of 97 critical and high findings for disclosure. The program builds on Project Glasswing and the Cyber Verification Program announced earlier this week. For builders, frontier cyber capability is being distributed through large incumbent channels first, which shapes who sells AI security to utilities. Maintainers of popular libraries should expect a rising volume of machine-generated vulnerability reports and plan triage for them.
