SAP agrees to buy TechWolf to ground its HR agents in a skills and work context graph
TechWolf, based in Ghent, Belgium, builds what it calls a context graph for work from customers' existing HR and business systems. It models organizations at three levels: the tasks inside each job, the skills employees have and use, and the external labor market. SAP will fold the graph, TechWolf's models and its applied research team into the SuccessFactors portfolio, pending regulatory approval. SAP product chief Manoj Swaminathan said the graph will serve as a grounding layer for agent queries, cutting token usage and the cost of deploying workforce agents in its Joule assistant for skills-based hiring, workforce planning and role redesign. The two companies already had a partnership with joint customers. For builders, the pitch is notable: an incumbent is paying for structured context, not a model, specifically because it makes agents cheaper and more accurate. Startups that own a clean, continuously updated data layer for a domain remain attractive targets as suite vendors race to make their agents useful.
