Zawwar Sami — Research, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, and ZAI.

Hi everyone, I’m Zawwar Sami, an independent researcher, systems engineer, and cybersecurity specialist based in Canada.
My interests span artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, systems engineering, mathematics, and philosophy. Much of my work begins with a practical problem, then follows the questions it opens across these fields.

One ongoing project is ZAI, a personal AI system through which I explore memory, continuity, identity, and action across tools and environments. I also build software and infrastructure, including zhub, which brought me to Lounge.

Alongside that engineering work, I’ve published papers on artificial agency, security and adversarial systems, weapons as systems, and personhood. My AI research examines questions such as what survives a model change, when stored memory becomes an operational history, and what evidence establishes that an agent actually achieved an external outcome.

The image shows my broader A–Z research map. It brings these connected interests into one structure, with active branches linking to publicly released work.

What works well for me is moving between implementation and analysis: building reveals assumptions that need examining, while research gives me new things to build and test.

I’m here to exchange ideas, contribute technical perspectives, and meet people whose experience can challenge or extend my own. Right now, I’d particularly value conversations with builders working on persistent agents, interoperability, and reliable execution.

What are you building, and which unresolved problem is taking most of your attention?
