Budget and runway model
Builds a simple monthly budget and runway with three scenarios and the levers that matter.
Use it when
Planning hires or a raise.
What you fill in
- finances Cash, monthly revenue and growth, current costs by category
- plans Planned hires and spending
The prompt
Build a runway model. Finances: finances Plans: plans 1. A monthly table for 18 months: revenue, costs by category, net burn, cash at end of month. 2. Three scenarios: base, downside (growth half of plan) and upside, with months of runway for each. 3. The 3 levers that change runway most, with the effect of each in months. 4. The date by which we must start fundraising (6 months before cash runs out in the downside case). Show formulas so I can rebuild it in a spreadsheet. Before you answer, check your draft against every instruction above and fix anything that misses.
Why it works
- Scenarios beat a single forecast.
- Quantifies levers in months of runway.
- Shows formulas for a spreadsheet.
