About Abe Gong

Background

Abe Gong is the co-founder and CEO of Superconductive, the company behind the open-source data quality project Great Expectations. Crunchbase lists him as a co-founder of the company since June 2017 and places him in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Before Superconductive he was Chief Data Officer at Aspire Health, a founding member of the Jawbone data science team, and lead data scientist at Massive Health. He holds a PhD from the University of Michigan in public policy, political science and complex systems. His own bio says he has spent more than a decade leading teams that apply data and technology to health care, consumer wellness and public policy.

Superconductive began as a healthcare data consultancy. The founders turned an internal data quality tool into Great Expectations, and TechCrunch reported in February 2022 that the company raised $40M to launch a commercial version. Crunchbase now lists a different person as CEO of the Great Expectations organization and Gong as a co-founder.

Angel investing track record

Little about Gong's angel investing is public. Crunchbase's person profile shows an advisor role at Stack Lighting dating from 2015, but no list of personal investments. We did not find a public statement from him on check size, ownership targets or investment criteria, so none are given here.
