About Chen Danian
Chen Danian, also known as Danny Chen, was born in 1978 and studied at Fudan University. He is a co-founder of Shanda and was previously its COO. Shanda became the largest internet company in China by market capitalization in 2004.
He is the founder and CEO of LinkSure, which launched WiFi Master Key, a WiFi sharing app. Tracxn dates his startup activity through that company to 2013. Fortune named him to its China 40 under 40 list in 2016 and ranked him 43rd on its 2017 list of the 50 most influential business leaders in China.
In a Sohu interview, he said he chose to build WiFi Master Key as a "slow company", focused on doing one small thing carefully. The piece describes him as someone who rarely appears in public.
Sohu describes him as an angel investor in addition to his role as an operator. Tracxn lists one angel investment for him: Kulan Dreamweaver, a seed round announced on May 28, 2026. Little else about his angel activity appears in the public sources I found, and I found no personal investor page, fund or stated portfolio count.
The Lounge deals desk lists one AI round for him: the Kulan Dreamweaver seed round of $4.4M (CNY 30.0M) in May 2026. Crunchbase describes Kulan Dreamweaver (Beijing Kulan Dreamweaver Technology Co., Ltd.) as a company researching applications of AI technology in game creation. Tracxn lists Qinglan Capital and Shanghai Angel Investment Guidance Fund among the co-investors in the round. It does not give the amount he put in.
The public record is thin, so this page does not claim a stage or sector thesis. The one confirmed deal is a seed round in AI for game creation, in China. Check size, ownership targets and any investment criteria are not public, and he has not published a statement of what he looks for.
- Kulan Dreamweaver: Beijing company applying AI to game creation; he took part in its seed round announced May 2026 ($4.4M, CNY 30.0M).
